she, her, hers
Rebecca Lee is the co-founder and Safe Space Chair for Duke’s Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) affinity group, which began as a virtual conversation with eight colleagues following the Atlanta spa shootings in 2021. Under her leadership, the group has grown to over 275 members and includes a professional development series, cultural celebrations that nurture community connections, book and movie clubs, and partnerships with local libraries to organize educational programs for children. Rebecca is dedicated to creating welcoming environments for challenging discussions, building communities, and advocating for equity and representation.
In addition to her work with the AAPI affinity group, Rebecca serves on the programming subcommittee for Duke’s DiversifyIT, a staff-led community that works toward awareness and support for all identities in IT. She started a support group for moms working in IT in 2017 and is an active member of Duke’s DEI Leaders’ Council, which provides a collaborative space for affinity groups and ERG leaders.
Professionally, Rebecca is part of the M365 support team at Duke Health Technology Solutions, Duke Health’s IT division. In her free time, she enjoys performing violin with the Durham Savoyards, crocheting whimsical hats and blankets, creating wheel-thrown ceramic bowls, and embarking on adventures with her family.
